Toyota closed two showrooms in Bucharest

The largest local Toyota dealer, Inchcape Motors, closed its second showroom in Bucharest because of low sales recorded in the first months of 2009.
All employees of the showrooms were relocate. “Most of them are now at another center. Such a school has a high capacity to absorb these people and is now working on the ground and directly to the customer,” said Veronica Mircea, marketing director of Toyota.

Toyota sales in Romania fell by 80% over the same period last year.
At the end of 2008, Inchape has closed a showroom in the Capital unit to be replaced by a new complex in the V of the city, but it delayed the opening to appear.
Average investment for a 3S complex, which includes showroom, service and storage of spare parts, amounts to 2-2,5 million euro, so we expected!

Tesla’s Stunning Model S

This is the beginning of a new era in transportation. Tesla Motors has introduced the new Model S. The Model S is a beautiful automobile and further pushes the envelope of electric vehicles. The Model S helps push EVs (electric vehicles) into the mainstream and gives Tesla a strong position in the emerging electric-car market.

The Model S is a seven-passenger sedan with a range of up to 300 miles. Thus, the Model S combines sex appeal with the feeling of being practical.

The Model S will have a list price of $57,400, but the $7,500 United States federal tax credit for EVs and plug-in hybrids will bring that down to $49,900.

Tesla will have competition. General Motors, Ford and Nissan are among the major automakers promising to have EVs on the road by 2011, and Tesla also is facing competition from a growing number of startups, including Fisker Automotive.

The sleek car is clearly influenced by European aesthetics. It’s long and low, with an aggressive stance and a muscular look. Franz von Holzhausen styled the Model S. Franz designed the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, and then worked for Mazda before joining Tesla. The car has drawn comparisons to the Jaguar XF and the Maserati Quattroporte.

Tesla felt it was important to make the car athletic but not brawny and give the car a sense of lightness and efficiency.

The Model S will use a liquid-cooled motor with a peak output of 300 kilowatts, or about 402 horsepower. Thats a significant hike over the Roadster, which puts out 248 horsepower. Of course, the Model S is a significantly bigger car and is expected to weigh about 4,000 lbs. Power comes from a lithium-ion battery pack with either 5,500 or 7,800 cells.
